Afro-Brazilian Percussion with Mestre Wilson Low

8 Week Afro-Brazilian Percussion Session
Begins Saturday, January 19, 2008 3:30pm - 4:30pm at the Private Studios of Mestre Wilson Low - $15.00 per session.

Workshop dates: January 19, 26 Feb 2,9,16,23 Mar 1 & 8, 2008

We will be concentrating on Afro-Brazilian roots and the songs of the Abasa do Kauiza - temple of Umbanda.

About Mestre Low: Mestre Wilson Low was born in the dance circle of Umbanda in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Before he was able to read he was dancing, singing, serving and playing music for the Orixa, in his Mother's Terreiro - Abasa do Kauiza. Being a natural acrobat and musician, he studied capoeira and Brazilian Culture and folklore with renowned Mestre Suassuna of the Cordao de Ouro Academy. After touring throughout the U.S. and Europe with Oba-Oba, Low relocated to S.F. in 1991 and has been a contributing and influential musician in the Bay Area Brazilian music scene.
