About the Band
MaraReggae has created a universal style of World music, where everyone, young and old, can be inspired to dance and express themselves. Formed by Brazil-born Wilson Low in 1995, MaraReggae’s music can be described as a magical blending of Brazilian roots with jazz, funk and “a whole-lot-of-soul.” Songs are original compositions and traditional Brazilian music is performed in Portuguese and English. The band is joined by dancers for festival and theatre performances.
The seven-member band contains: a four-member Afro-Brazilian percussion section that locks down the groove, a jazz-influenced electric bassist and a Latin-funk guitarist who masterfully communicates through his music and intertwines his melodies with the smooth soul vocalist.
